Manny Pacquiao Said What?!

Boxer Manny Pacquio is no stranger to harboring anti-gay beliefs. In fact, in 2012 he openly stated that he disagrees with President Obama’s stance on same-sex marriage, but does not feel that they should be “put to death” (aww, so sweet). In a recent interview on a television station in the Philippines he reiterated his distaste for same sex loving people:

“Will you see any animals where male is to male and female is to female? The animals are better. They know how to distinguish male from female. If we approve [of] male on male, female on female, then man is worse than animals.”

Did I forget to mention that he is running for a seat in his country’s senate? Because oops.
First of all Mr.Pacquiao, comparing humans to animals is not always a great approach. ‘Why?’ You ask. Oh, I don’t know. Maybe it’s because we are not animals? But since you already opened that door let’s do it. Let’s compare humans to animals.

Out of all of sexual activity that has been observed by giraffes, 94% of it is homosexual.
Flamingos have been reported to be in relationships with any sex. Female bonobos have been observed hooking up with each other on a somewhat regular basis. An intersex snail was recently discovered called the Aegista diversifamilia. Over 80 percent of male Sea Lions in New Zealand mate with other males. Want me to keep going? I don’t want this list to get too tall because I know you’re short and probably won’t be able to reach a sound conclusion. What’s science other than facts and logic, anyhow.

Uh oh. How did that get here?

After a lot of backlash from members of the LGBTQ community and its allies, Pacquiao
released an alleged apology video on Instagram.

OK queen of passive-aggressive ‘tude. Anybody else feel a wave of nausea shower over them? Look Manny, we all respect your religious beliefs. No one was ever intentionally threatening them. But if you would put down the Bible a little more often and open your eyes a little wider you might realize that not everyone is able to live a life like yours and that’s totally OK.
